We are very excited to announce that our doors opened in January 2019! The Idea

Do school’s today really prepare our children for the future… and for careers that don’t yet exist? The rapidity with which the world is changing is quite phenomenal yet our schools are built upon a foundation which supports an education system whose century has passed. We urgently need to rethink what, why and how we learn. No school has the luxury of remaining static and we urgently need to rethink the task of education in a changing world. This requires a transformation in the way in which schools work - a redesigning of them… for the 21st Century. This is the basis upon which the Rallim Modern Learning Environment was founded

Who are we?

We are an innovative private, English medium, co-educational pre-preparatory and preparatory modern learning environment  situated in the beautiful suburb of Sunningdale close to the new Table Bay Mall on Berkshire Boulevard along the West Coast of Cape Town. Our doors opened in 2019 with students from 3 to 13 years in age in our pre-preparatory and preparatory faculties with set plans in place to open our secondary faculty in two years’ time.

Why Rallim?

We are grounded in a strong sense of history with our partnership with Garden Cities who have been builders of communities for over 100 years and who are strongly invested in giving back to the community. We also have a strong management team and key identified staff members with established reputations in the area. Finally, we have a clear focus on the future in that we are addressing a national need not only in terms of the 21st Century education of our children but also in terms of teacher training.

How will we achieve this?

We aim to provide an education that redefines the borders of the classroom and school through our progressive approach, our new anatomy of language and our distinctive physical structure by:

A visual redesign with our flexible learning hubs that are divided by moveable walls and which are connected via our shared hubs of excellence;

An auditory redesign with our new anatomy of language;

A pedagogical redesign in terms of our transformative approach and model that is deeply experiential at its core and which allows students to learn through embodied learning, game play, discovery and research as well as designing and making through our master classes and Accelerate and Reteach programmes.

The Building

Rallim is viewed as a modern learning environment (MLE) in which the physical structure comprises flexible learning spaces which are divided by moveable walls with high levels of flexibility and which are connected via shared generic hubs of learning. These tech-infused flexible learning spaces replace the standard classroom and are designed to support the teaching and learning of 21st Century skills. The open, latticed exterior of the building together with the glass walls ensure transparency and the fostering of collaboration in the flexible learning environment. The flexibility of the model and approach is reflected in that of the environment.
